QUB-Halland

QUB-Halland Six samples of oak in the QUB collection, collected in two castles in eastern Scotland, Stirling and Midhope Castle, indicates a timber trade from, most likely, Halland during the first half of the 16'th century. Halland is now a Swedish province (the coastal area south of Gothenburg) but was in the 16'th century still a part of Denmark. The timber may also come from province Västergötland (Sweden also at that time) or Bohuslän (Norway/Denmark at that time).
