Pinus sylvestris , PISY, Scotch Pine is the most important specie to dendrochronology in northen europe. A lot of chronologies are available. It is commonly used in buildings and other constructions. It is often very well preserved in constructions and also sometimes as dry trees, wet in lakes and bogs. It is relatively easy to collect cores from with an increment borer both from living trees and from logs in construction.
