Correlation between harvest results 1683-1780 and tree ring
Occasionally I found a list of "judgments" according the harvest results in Sweden for each year between 1683 and 1780. I transformed it into numbers, and found it matching some tree ring data very well! See http://www.taxelson.se/dendro/obj/Ekman_eng.htm

Re: Where to buy increment borers on the internet?
(Lars-Åke asked me to paste some lines from an email I recently wrote on this topic, as a reply - some of the info is already in the original post - but here they are:) There are two manufactures of increment borers as I know. It is the Finnish Suunto (which I have never used myself) http://www.suun...

Cybis Wiki
We have started a Wiki for dendrochronology. A wiki is a site where anybody (with an account) may contribute to the content. There are not yet very much useful information on the Cybis Wiki, except for a list of available references useful in southern and central Scandinavia and some related links. ...

Re: Haglöf Increment Borers
Hi, I know there unfortunately have been a lot of trouble with coring living oaks. If you search the ITRDBfor for "Haglof" last four years or something you will see some of it... Maybe they have improved the quality - the told they were to - but I do not know if they have been successful y...

Still no access to the Forum after registration?
Unfortunately we have problem with a huge number of spamers who try to get access to this Forum. Therefore we have to check up any new registration (It normally takes less than 24 hours). There is a small risk that even a serious registration may be canceled by mistake in that process, especially if...

Re: Elm dating
I did visit Öland (a Baltic island in south east Sweden, from where I already have a lot of oak samples available) last week, and as I saw two elm stumps, I cored them. The result towards local oak chronology/samples) is not very encouraging. Of course this is just one example, and there may be tree...

Re: Elm dating
Hi Francesco, According to http://www.wsl.ch/dbdendro/species/Details_EN?id_species=1098 Elm is not a very good specie for cross dating. It says the Crossdating Index (CDI) is "1", which " indicates a species known to crossdate within and between trees (minor importance to dendrochron...

Thin and short Oak collection from Linköping 1856-1978
I have got two oak samples from just outside Linköping which I did collect already as a teenager, in the first part of the 1980'th! Measurements for them are now available at http://www.taxelson.se/dendro/HkfQ.rwl (season wood measurements at http://www.taxelson.se/dendro/HkfQ.zip ). Cross dating va...

Re: An alternative to scanning samples
Thank you, Roberto, for this very nice presentation! And the quality of your images, produced by the described method and equipment, are indeed impressing! I do agree on the most things you write, except the resolution needed for credible datings (also much poorer resolution will usually work fine!)...

Re: Nordic Archaeological Abstracts
I did an interpretation of the diagrams by Bartholin from the Alvastra pile dwelling. The chronology is floating, and the datings are according to relative dates in the article, where year 1 is the first year of building activity found at the site. A map for the site at 58º17'59"N, 14º40'30&quo...
